The Fabulous Strip
Every day, more schmucks get fleeced on the Las Vegas Strip than any other place on Earth. The schmucks are young folks out to impress attractive members of the opposite sex, older hacks trying to win all their losses back in a big hurry, and the average tourist lured in by the glitz and glitter. The Strip is fancy, dazzling, awesome to look at, and ultimately hollow. It's like an enormous gold-plated turd.
When people talk about the new, family-friendly Las Vegas they are referring to the Strip because kids still get eaten alive Downtown. And all that family-friendly business is bullshit because no family should be vacationing someplace where the children's amusements are really designed to assuage the parents' guilt while they hit the slots. The Strip is not a benevolent place. Neither is it a smart place to gamble. It is, however, a great place to kill time looking at the spectacles and schmucks.
